Summer Schedule Packed with
Clinics
Mike and Scott stayed busy with several
marching percussion clinics presented
throughout the summer.  In late June,
Scott presented a series of 4 clinics in
The Netherlands, Belgium, and
Germany.  The clinics were presented
by Show & Marching Music and Majestic
Holland and sponsored by Jupiter,
Evans, Row-Loff, and Vic Firth.  While
in Belgium, Scott served as a Judge for
the World Association of Marching
Show Bands European Open
Championship and had the opportunity
to tour the Majestic-Holland
headquarters.  Mike presented a clinic
in Birmingham, AL for band directors
who were in attendance for the annual
Spirit Camp (even selling several
copies of Field Level in the process!)
On July 28 both Mike and Scott
presented a clinic, "The Educated
Drumline", to a capacity audience at the
Texas Bandmasters Association
Convention in San Antonio, TX.  The
Lake Highlands High School Percussion
Section from Dallas, TX served as the
demonstration group for the clinic.  The
trip included a tour and demonstration
at the Jupiter Headquarters in Austin,
TX.  The TBA clinic was sponsored by
Jupiter, Row-Loff, and Vic Firth.
The fall of 1998 proved to be a successful
time.  Mike stayed busy during the Atlanta
Falcons home games as a member of the
staff for the new Atlanta Falcons Drumline.
The drumline performed around the
stadium prior to kickoff, and on the
sidelines and in the end zone during the
games.  Scott spent the fall getting the
percussion students at Dickerson Middle
School prepared for their
clinic/performance, "Developing a
Successful Middle School Percussion
Ensemble", at the Midwest Clinic in
Chicago, IL.  The students performed with
drumset artist, Dom Famularo, and
percussion professor from MTSU, Lalo
Davila.  Mike guest conducted the
ensemble during the performance.
