Richard G. Dietrich is an active percussion performer, educator and clinician throughout the U.S. He holds a Masters’ Degree in Percussion Performance and an Education Degree from Georgia State University and currently working towards his Doctorate in Music Education at Auburn University. The year 2021 marks his sixteenth year as Associate Director of Bands at Palmer Middle School. This season also marks his 5th year as Director of Percussion Studies at Kennesaw Mountain High School. His students have achieved success at the highest levels having been invited to perform on many stages including the M.F.A. National Percussion Festival, National Concert Band Festival, GMEA Convention, Chicago Midwest International Convention and the NEA Gala in Washington DC. His students consistently represent their programs at the local Honor, All State and Bands of America National Honor Bands and Orchestras.
As a member of the Innovative Percussion Education Artist Team, Mr. Dietrich is an active clinician and adjudicator. He gives clinics and presentations all over including the Music for All Summer Symposium Directors Academy, The Spirit Camp at Jacksonville State University and the North Georgia Percussion Camp and Symposium. He is now serving as a consultant for the educational video series ‘musicians tool box’ from the company Dynamic Marching.
He currently lives in Marietta, Georgia with his wife Sarah, son Evan, labrador Lacey and new puppy Bailey Bongo.
