Scott Brown

Scott Brown is currently the Assistant Band
Director and Percussion Ensemble Director at
Dickerson Middle School in Marietta, GA and
serves on the instructional staff and as co-
arranger for the percussion section of the 1998
& 2002 Bands of America Grand National
Champion Lassiter High School Band. He was a
member of the Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle
Corps and has worked with concert and
marching percussion ensembles throughout the
southeast including the Spirit of Atlanta Drum &
Bugle Corps, the Kennesaw Mountain H.S. Band,
Enterprise H.S. Winter Percussion, and the North
Buncombe H.S. Band. These ensembles have
been successful at all levels of marching
percussion including recognition as BOA
Regional and National Champions, WGI Regional
and World Championship Finalists, DCI Finalists,
and participation in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day
Parade and the Pasadena Tournament of Roses
Parade.

The percussion ensemble at Dickerson performed for the Georgia Music Educator’s
Association Conference (GMEA) on three occasions, the National Band Association
Southern Division Conference in 2006, presented a clinic/performance for the 2006
Percussive Arts Society International Convention, and has been invited to present a
clinic/performance for the 2008 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in
Chicago, Illinois. The percussion program at Dickerson was honored with a Commendation
from the Governor of Georgia and has been featured in Percussive Notes Magazine and on
the Vic Firth , Jupiter, and Ross websites. The Lassiter percussion ensemble performed for
the BOA National Percussion Festival, the Midwest Clinic, PASIC and presented a marching
percussion clinic for the GMEA Conference.
Scott is a co-author of the Instrumental Music Curriculum for the Cobb County School
District and “Field Level”, an instructional text for marching percussion, published by Row-
Loff Productions. He received a citation for “Significant Contributions to Bands in the State
of Georgia” from GMEA, the “Citation of Excellence” from the National Band Association,
and is listed in the National Honor Roll’s “Outstanding American Teachers”. Mr. Brown
serves as a percussion adjudicator for Drum Corps Associates and the United States
Scholastic Band Association. Mr. Brown is an artist/endorser for Evans Drumheads, Mapex
Drums, Majestic Percussion, Ross Mallet Percussion, and a member of the Vic Firth
Education Team.
